What have you found are the pros and cons of being your own boss?
I have acknowledged that success doesn’t mean that you’re super busy all the time. There was an article mentioning that the most used word in France is “no”, the reason is because when you first say “no”, you can say “yes” later; but when you say “yes” first, it’s harder to say “no” later. Also, I learned quickly that when I do more than three energy healing sessions per day they take so much from me and sometimes I even get sick. Now I only put 2 sessions on my calendar at day and maximum three.
What has been the most challenging moment of your project or business? How did you overcome it?
When people ask me what I do, and I tell them that I’m an energy healer, there are three kinds of reactions: they either change subjects, ask me if I actually make money, or they are really interested and they ask me about it. With the people that don’t care, I learned that you don’t need to prove yourself, it doesn’t matter, you just have to keep going.
Who was an important figure during this process? How did they support you?
My dad, I respect him a lot and he didn’t know nothing about me being an energy healer. I was so scared to tell him because he’s so straight minded, but when I decided to talk to him I told him “I don’t know how you’re going to feel about your daughter being an energy healer” and he answered me “everyone can think whatever they want to think”. For me that was like my permission and I decided I’m just going to do it.
Have you ever suffered from “impostor syndrome”? If so, how did you overcome it?
I deal with this every single day of my life. I’m still surprised every day I get an email for a session and I’m like, really? Okay cool, let’s do it. Other days I sit down on a session and I’m wondering what would happen if today my gifts can’t help someone. But it has never happened, and why would it happen now? So I’m proving myself everyday. You have to remember that there’s no one like you. It’s good if you feel crazy, you have to be different in order to produce something. So, if you feel like a crazy person, that’s a good sign.
What is your perspective or philosophy regarding uncertainty or the unknown?
I recommend you an activity, it’s about fear and I do it for one of my packages. Just take a piece of paper and write every single fear that is on your head, for example: I’m afraid of not making enough money, I’m afraid this won’t work out. Write any tiny fear, it doesn’t matter how small it is, and leave a space under each one. Then go to every fear and confront it, write down why it’s not true, or what you would do if that happened. It’s good because you get the fears out of your head. Also this will help you to prepare a strategic plan. I still do it every time I have something that gets me nervous.
If you could give some advice to yourself a few years ago, what would you tell yourself?
Stop taking everyone else’s advice as much as you do. When you grow your business, you feel lost and you don’t know if it’s the right thing. Other people are there to support you but at the end of the day you need to listen to yourself, and if someone tell you that you need to post twelve times on social media in order to make a profit, that might not be true for you. You have to notice where you feel uneasy about the advice you are given. Your real boss is not the profits or the numbers. You’re being led not by the norms of the industry, but by something bigger than you.
Is there a book, article or podcast that you recommend?
There is a book from one of my favorite people, it’s called Earth is Hiring by Peta Kelly and I use it a lot to change my story about money, and to manifest things about my business, it’s super spiritual but it came at a time when I really needed it.
I think podcasts, you can hear AwakenWithJP it’s by JP Sears he’s a spiritual comedian so he is hilarious. Healers is a good one, about healers who are starting their business and how they make it happen.
Is there anything else you want to share with our readers?
I recommend another activity. This one is about writing yourself a letter, to give yourself a pep talk because there are going to be days when you feel like throwing everything away. So anticipate yourself and write why are you doing this and like where do you hope to be. This will help you to get yourself out of there, and read it when you feel down.
